I’m a writer and director born in Lebanon, raised in Michigan, and currently based in NYC.

I graduated from Harvard where I studied English and Islamic Studies and wrote a novel for my senior honors thesis. Now, I’m a PhD student at NYU studying Islamicate literature and developing projects across film and television.

I am a 2022 Film Independent Episodic Lab fellow and a 2024 Sundance Feature Film fellow. I was also selected for the inaugural Sundance x Walt Disney Muslim Artist fellowship.

My academic writing has been presented or featured in or at the Columbia Journal for International Affairs, the American Oriental Society, Princeton Islamic Studies Colloquium, Harvard Divinity School, and others.

How people make sense of the world in all its absurdity is what drives both my storytelling and academic research.

The first thing I’m asking for in heaven is the sequel to Brothers Karamazov.
